How to use it
Basal area is the cross-sectional area of tree stems at breast height, commonly expressed as square feet per acre. This simplified tool assumes one average DBH for the measured trees; a tree-by-tree tally is more accurate.
Planning estimate: Field conditions, sampling method, tree form, defects, and local forestry standards can materially change results. Use professional cruising and appraisal methods for timber-sale decisions.
